Focus on what you’ve done – no matter how small it seems

From time to time you may have a deeper understanding of how you really operate.  I have realized recently that I tend to put way more on my to do list than I can really manage to get done.

However, instead of getting upset that I only got 3 things done on my list rather than all 20 – I just am darned glad I did those three things.  After all, it wasn’t that long ago when I couldn’t force myself to get ANYTHING done.  Seriously – I would go days or even weeks without doing even the tiniest thing for my business/internet marketing.

Now I am having the opposite issue – I find myself working every single day on my internet marketing stuff and usually for hours longer than I’d planned to.

I think I’m a bit afraid that if I stop I’ll go back into not doing a single solitary thing mode.

But last week I realized that isn’t the case.  I was completely pooped one evening after getting home and ended up calling it my “night off”.  I didn’t do anything on the computer.  The next day I did a little bit but not as much as I’d planned.  Same with the next night.  But then by Thursday I was on a roll.  Despite doing nothing on Monday night, and only little bits at a leisurely pace on Tuesday and Wednesday by the time Sunday night had come upon us I’d done the vast majority of setting up and publishing 26 sites.  Yes you read that right – TWENTY-SIX.

So what I’ve learned – do not force yourself.  If you need a bit of time off – take it.  When you’ve got your energy back you’ll probably find yourself being far more productive than if you’d kept forging ahead even when so not in the mood or really exhausted.

Also, praise yourself for what you do accomplish rather than berate yourself for what is left on your do to list.  Some days or weeks you’ll not get as much done as you hoped but then other days or weeks you’ll surprise yourself with how much more you got done than you’d planned to!  It all tends to balance out in the long run.
